Empowering Latino Leaders: LCF Georgia's Second Civic Participation Fellowship Program

Over the past weekend, the Latino Community Fund (LCF Georgia) successfully concluded its second Civic Participation Fellowship Program in Atlanta, Georgia. This three-day initiative aimed to empower Latino youth and community members through invaluable mentorship, practical training, and networking opportunities with established leaders. This underscores LCF Georgia's commitment to fostering a cohort of community-driven leaders dedicated to positive change.

The fellowship program equipped 21 fellows with essential skills in community organizing, civic leadership, and voter engagement. Comprehensive training sessions included the history of Latinos in Georgia, an overview of the Latino electorate, and strategies for community mobilization.

Participants came from diverse backgrounds, representing cities across Georgia such as Rome, Albany, and Atlanta. The cohort included college students, professionals, and community members passionate about civic leadership.

Fellows now have the opportunity to apply for up to $2,500 in funding for community service projects or to join the LCF Georgia team as Community Navigators. Esteemed local leaders like Representative Phil Olaleye and the Senior Assistant District Attorney for the Gwinnett Judicial Circuit shared their experiences with participants.
