Deezer Launches AI Detection Tool for Music Streaming

Deezer has introduced a sophisticated AI detection tool to identify AI-generated content within its platform. This initiative is aimed at enhancing transparency and protecting creators' rights in the evolving music industry. The tool has revealed that about 10% of daily music uploads to Deezer are AI-generated, prompting the company to plan for removing such content from algorithmic recommendations.

The development involved patent applications filed in December 2024. Deezer's technology stands out due to its ability to detect AI-generated music without heavy reliance on specific training datasets, allowing it to remain effective across various generative AI models.

Deezer's Chief Innovation Officer, Aurelien Herault, emphasized the tool's robustness compared to existing technologies which face challenges with new models. A tagging system for AI content and further advancements to tackle deep fake voices are also on the agenda.
