Hong Kong Celebrates Innovations at Palladium Global Science Award
On November 22, 2025, Hong Kong hosted the inaugural Palladium Global Science Award ceremony. This international competition, initiated in 2025, honors advancements in palladium-based technologies. Five scientists from Canada, Japan, India, the United States, and Saudi Arabia received awards, sharing a prize fund of USD 350,000.
The competition attracted nearly 100 submissions from over 30 countries. Fields covered included energy, metallurgy, chemistry, and environmental technologies. An International Expert Council evaluated entries on scientific novelty and feasibility.
Distinguished Professor Chao-Jun Li of Canada won for a palladium catalyst that reduces emissions. Leaders from various sectors attended the ceremony, underscoring the global impact and potential of palladium applications.
The event was supported by CPMIC, Shanghai Metals Market, and other global partners. The next competition season will begin in spring 2026.
