CHERRY SmartLink Gains Approval, Bolstering E-Prescription Ecosystem

CHERRY Digital Health, a subsidiary of Cherry SE, has received gematik’s provider approval for its SmartLink technology, marking a pivotal advancement in digital healthcare. This approval allows secure e-prescription dispensing using NFC-enabled smartphones with electronic health cards. The certified SmartLink solution is now available to all e-prescription providers.

SmartLink utilizes CHERRY's vast hardware network, with 300,000 card terminals in the German healthcare sector. This ensures seamless integration with telematics infrastructure hardware and new interoperable applications. The first implementation, in collaboration with DoctorBox, is active with the APO360 app, enhancing pharmacy customer engagement digitally.

The deployment of SmartLink signals CHERRY's strategic entry into a market poised for growth, supported by an appealing pricing model targeting both early adopters and broader pharmacy users. This initiative positions CHERRY as a neutral infrastructure partner with strong brand recognition in a market leaning towards vertically integrated solutions.

Through APO360, pharmacies can digitally integrate customer interactions, handle e-prescriptions, and manage medication plans. Additional integrations are in development to improve coordination between care homes and pharmacies. CHERRY SmartLink is integral to a modular, open infrastructure promising a connected, patient-focused healthcare environment.
