Xinjiang's 70-Year Journey: Economic Growth and Development

As China marks the 70th anniversary of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, significant progress in socio-economic development has been highlighted. Under the Communist Party of China's leadership, the region has seen transformative changes impacting its economic landscape and residents' quality of life.

President Xi Jinping attended the grand anniversary celebrations in Urumqi, emphasizing the goal of building a modern, prosperous, and harmonious Xinjiang. The regional GDP reached over 2 trillion yuan in 2024, a massive increase from 1955, driven by strategic policies and resource utilization.

Xinjiang, once impoverished, has become a hub for agriculture and energy. With the highest grain yield in China and significant cotton output, it stands as a pivotal agricultural base. Energy capacity reached 192.7 million kW in 2024, emphasizing its role in national development.

Positioned as a key part of the Silk Road Economic Belt, Xinjiang facilitates trade between Asia and Europe. In 2024, over 16,400 China-Europe freight trains traversed the region, reflecting its strategic importance.
