Caribbean Medical School New Campus Groundbreaking Ceremony

Saint James School of Medicine has started construction of its new campus in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, marking a pivotal step in the expansion of medical education in the Caribbean. The groundbreaking event, which occurred on March 25, 2024, signifies the beginning of what promises to be a modern facility aimed at enhancing opportunities for medical students. With the support of the government, as evidenced by the attendance of officials such as Hon. Camillo Gonsalves and Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, the project underscores a strong partnership aimed at advancing healthcare education and services in the region.

The new campus will feature state-of-the-art resources including simulation labs and research centers, designed to accommodate an increased number of students. This initiative comes as part of an effort to meet the global demand for healthcare professionals, particularly in underserved areas. The school's Executive Vice-President, Kaushik Guha, highlighted the project's significance in laying the groundwork for the future of healthcare education. Initial phases involve constructing a facility for classrooms and an outdoor amphitheater, with completion expected by the end of August. The project, designed by ARGO Development Studio, is anticipated to positively impact the local economy by creating jobs and promoting community development.
