Battery Processing Operations Authorized by the Government of Ontario

St-Georges Eco-Mining Corp. is pleased to announce that its subsidiary, EVSX Corp., has received Environmental Compliance Approval from the Government of Ontario for a new battery processing facility in Thorold, Niagara Region. This landmark approval enables EVSX to commence operations involving the transfer and processing of waste alkaline batteries, with a capacity for handling up to 4,200 tons of batteries annually, potentially generating about 3,500 tons of manganese/zinc crude blackmass per year.

The approval comes with specific terms including site management, financial assurance provisions, and operational conditions such as waste acceptance criteria and processing limitations. Notably, EVSX is required to maintain financial assurance of CAD 110,175 to cover waste management and site clean-up, with periodic re-evaluations. Operations at the plant are restricted to daytime hours, and stringent waste screening procedures are mandated to ensure only approved types of batteries are processed.

With this approval, EVSX anticipates the initiation of full industrial operations following the commissioning of its installed processing line. The company aims to strengthen partnerships and extend its recycling capabilities, aligning with broader environmental goals. EVSX is also preparing for a comprehensive corporate update, which will detail operational strategies, joint venture plans in Italy, and efforts to expand battery recycling capacities across multiple jurisdictions.

CEO Enrico Di Cesare expressed the approval as a significant milestone, emphasizing the company's commitment to setting new standards in battery processing and recycling. The achievement marks a critical step towards operationalizing a concept that promises to redefine the industry and foster a circular economy.
