Bastei Lübbe AG Acquires Hörcompany GmbH, Expands Audio Offerings

Bastei Lübbe AG has acquired Hörcompany GmbH, expanding its audio activities significantly. Effective from July 1, 2024, the move marks a key milestone for Bastei Lübbe AG, a prominent general-interest publisher listed in the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The acquisition boosts its audiobook and audio play catalog, aligning with the company's strategic growth goals in the audio sector.

Founded in 2000, Hörcompany specializes in high-quality audiobooks for young audiences. Notable productions include works by Axel Scheffler and Julia Donaldson, Derek Landy's "Skulduggery Pleasant" series, and James Krüss’ classic “Sängerkrieg der Heidehasen.” Hörcompany's catalog has received multiple accolades, including the German Audiobook Award.

Bastei Lübbe AG intends to maintain Hörcompany’s high standards. "We are committed to continuing the award-winning content standards of the Hörcompany brand and look forward to producing many great new titles," said Simon Decot, Chief Programme Officer at Bastei Lübbe AG. The acquisition promises a seamless transition, with founder Angelika Schaack assisting through the year-end.
