Bambu Lab Introduces R1: CO2 Laser Cutter for Home Use

Bambu Lab unveiled the R1, a 55W CO2 laser cutter and engraver, aimed at transforming personal manufacturing. Designed for home use, it cuts and engraves wood, acrylic, leather, and more, handling materials a diode laser cannot penetrate. The R1 features automatic laser alignment, simplifying the setup process—a task traditionally cumbersome for CO2 lasers.

The R1 uses Auto Laser Alignment technology, ensuring precision without manual adjustment. It employs a TriSense System, integrating cameras and lasers to assess material position, height, and toolhead movement. This system enhances engraving precision on varied surfaces, including curved objects.

The machine offers a 600 × 300 mm working area, expanding to 3000 mm with the Conveyor accessory, accommodating larger projects. Safety features include Class 1 laser safety, crossflow ventilation, and optional fire extinguishing systems, making it suitable for home workshops.
