Angel City Lumber Partners with U.S. Forest Service to Re-Localize Lumber in Los Angeles
BOYLE HEIGHTS, CA / ACCESSWIRE / May 29, 2024 / Angel City Lumber has entered into a partnership with the U.S. Forest Service to mill local trees from the Angeles National Forest. These trees, designated as safety hazards, will be utilized for commercial and residential sale within Los Angeles County.
As a part of the Angeles National Forest Land Management Plan, this collaboration aims to produce high-quality local products while preserving wildlife habitats and cultural areas. The initiative turns what could be fire fuel into valuable lumber.
Angel City Lumber's first product line includes solid wood flooring made from Ponderosa pine and Jeffrey pine. This is supported by the Forest Service's Wood Innovations Grant. Additionally, the company will create structural and non-structural lumber and millwork products from the felled trees.
CEO Jeff Perry emphasized the significance of this project in connecting Los Angeles residents to their local forests and ensuring that the process honors each tree. This partnership is seen as an opportunity to enhance the local lumber supply with sustainability and respect for natural resources.
