Alstom to Deliver 55 Electric Locomotives to Ukrainian Railways
Alstom has secured a deal to deliver 55 Traxx Hauler locomotives to Ukrainian Railways. The project, valued at approximately €470 million, will see dual-voltage locomotives designed to meet Ukraine's infrastructure needs. Financing is provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the World Bank.
Manufacturing will occur at Alstom’s Belfort site in France, with deliveries beginning in 2027. The contract includes driver and maintenance personnel training, and parts supply.
These locomotives are tailored for high performance and energy efficiency. Each will have four bogies in a twin Bo-Bo configuration, adapting to 3kV DC and 25kV AC traction systems. Alstom has been active in Ukraine since 2012, supporting infrastructure improvements.
