All-Women Team Wins Best Nevada Film Award for 'HOME: A Mother of 3000'
HOME: A Mother of 3000, a documentary produced by Eccentric Artists and directed by Emmy Award-winner Jemsen Yumico Bollozos, has won the Best Nevada Film award at the 10th Annual Nevada Women's Film Festival. The film, supported by a $10,000 grant from the PLAYSTUDIOS Impact Fund, showcases Positively Arts' work in empowering youth.
The documentary features Positively Arts' CEO Pilita Simpson and their efforts to integrate mental health practices into arts education. A special premiere was held at HyperX Arena, featuring performances by student-cast members and marking Aug. 18 as "Positively Arts Day" in Clark County.
The PLAYSTUDIOS Impact Fund enabled Eccentric Artists to form an all-women production team, emphasizing the importance of diversity in filmmaking. The documentary’s creation included an Empowering Women Workshop, supported by UNLV FILM, offering essential tools and experience to emerging female filmmakers.
"We believe the future of an inclusive society begins with the next generation," said Tiffanie Rose Ignacio, producer and co-founder. Director Bollozos added, "We hope audiences leave with the knowledge that self-expression is powerful, especially when guided by compassion."
