Alibaba Cloud Introduces New Pricing Strategy to Promote International AI Development

On April 8, 2024, Alibaba Cloud announced significant price reductions of up to 59% on its key public cloud services for international customers. This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance generative AI development worldwide. The new pricing, effective immediately, covers five fundamental public cloud products, aiming to make advanced computing resources more accessible and support customers' long-term growth in the AI era.

The announcement by Selina Yuan, President of the International Business of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, emphasized the company's commitment to affordability and accessibility in AI development. The revised pricing strategy benefits long-term subscribers with substantial discounts and provides a stable foundation for businesses to plan and develop AI applications.

Highlights include price reductions across a variety of payment models for Elastic Compute Service and Elastic Block Storage, with some international businesses seeing cost reductions of up to 59%. A new Object Storage Service plan offers deep discounts for long-term storage, significantly reducing costs for SMEs. Price reductions of up to 50% were also announced for database and big data product subscriptions, enhancing the cost-efficiency of long-term AI strategies.

In addition to pricing adjustments, Alibaba Cloud introduced new services and features to reduce AI process complexity, including a managed large language models service and the PAI-Lingjun Intelligent Computing Service in Singapore. An AI-driven sustainability solution, Energy Expert, also received enhancements to support custom application development for sustainability efforts.
