Algene Holding SE Reports Promising Interim Results in Aquaculture Study

Algene Holding SE has announced positive interim results from a collaboration with the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The study focuses on the use of Spirulina microalgae as a feed component in shrimp farming. The initial findings indicate increased feed acceptance and higher consumption when Spirulina is added, suggesting economic benefits for shrimp farming.

Conducted under Prof. Dr. Jürgen Geist, the study shows statistically significant consumption rate differences between shrimp fed with Spirulina and those without. These results may prove advantageous for aquaculture producers if confirmed. The study will conclude in November, potentially validating Algene's approach.

The aquaculture market is expected to reach USD 1.2 trillion by 2034, with a CAGR of 7.3%. Algene's CEO, Kai Maximilian Keller, emphasized the promising nature of these findings and is optimistic about the potential economic impact.
