Abrdn U.S. Closed-End Funds Announces New Co-Lead Portfolio Manager

PHILADELPHIA, PA - abrdn Healthcare Investors (HQH), abrdn Life Sciences Investors (HQL), abrdn Healthcare Opportunities Fund (THQ), and abrdn World Healthcare Fund (THW) each announced the appointment of Dr. Jason Akus as co-lead portfolio manager alongside Dr. Daniel Omstead. With over 20 years of experience working together, Dr. Akus will contribute to the management of the funds, continuing their pursuit of existing investment objectives and strategies.

Following a strategic transaction completed on October 27, 2023, which transferred advisory agreements to abrdn from Tekla Capital Management (TCM), this move ensures a smooth transition of responsibilities. Dr. Akus' appointment signifies continuity in the funds' management, underscoring their commitment to stability and the pre-existing investment philosophy

Dr. Akus, with a rich background in both medicine and business, brings 23 years of senior portfolio management experience from TCM to abrdn. Holding degrees in Mathematics, Medicine, and Business Administration from Tufts University, his comprehensive expertise will strategically guide the funds towards identifying new investment opportunities and optimizing portfolio performance.
